Paper Machie

Paper Mache Origin

Paper Mache is one of the most popular crafts practiced in Kashmir. The tradition of Paper Mache in Kashmir has its origin rooted in the 15th century, when King Zain ul Abideen invited many accomplished artists and craftsmen from Central Asia.
As a business in the beautiful region of Kashmir, it is important to not only focus on our own success but also to give back to the community that has supported us. One way we can do this is by inspiring the young generation in Kashmir to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.
One way to inspire young people is by providing them with education and training opportunities. This can be done by offering internships, apprenticeships, or even job shadowing opportunities for students. This not only provides them with hands-on experience in a field they are interested in but also allows them to see the possibilities available to them in their own region.
Another way to inspire young people in Kashmir is by promoting entrepreneurship. By providing resources, mentorship, and support to women and young entrepreneurs, we can help them turn their ideas into reality. This not only benefits the individual but also contributes to the overall economic development of the region.
We are also inspiring young people by sharing our own stories of success and challenges. By being open and transparent about our own experiences, we can show them that it is possible to achieve their goals and that it is not always a smooth path.
Lastly, it is important to involve young people in the decision-making process of our business. By giving them a voice and valuing their opinions, we can show them that their contributions are valued and that they have a say in the direction of their community.

How it is made .. ?

Mir’s Paper mâché baubles are made by our team of exceptionally skilled artisans. Our products are made from a unique combination of designs and color which is practiced on a variety of molded objects. We as artists use the traditional technique to form the products. This beautiful technique involves the method of mixing paper pulp with water which is later given the shape of the mold. As the pulp is dried, it is removed from the clay mold, giving the desired shape, cut into forms and glued together. We then start the decoration of the baubles on the smoothened surface. The colors used are made from organic pigments (plants and minerals), diluted in water and painted on the surface of the object. Once decorated, the products are then giving lacquer coating which protects them from any water damage and gives extra durability. The finished masterpiece reflects the keen attention to detail and sheer effort put in to produce such extraordinary aesthetic work.
